ARRANGE A VISIT

We thoroughly enjoy sharing our school with people.  It is very satisfying to witness a growing realisation that The Chalfonts challenges many preconceptions of classrooms, curriculum and ethos.

Family Visit

You are cordially invited to visit at a time to suit you and we will we devote sufficient time to answer all questions and ensure you have a good understanding of our school and its ethos.

Open Days

Our next Open Days will be held on Tuesday 19 September and Saturday 23 September.

Welcome Wednesdays

See the college this term on a Welcome Wednesday. These run on selected Wednesdays from 10:00am – 11:00am.  You will be able to see our students in class, have a tour of the college and meet the team.

Organise a visit, a place at a Welcome Wednesday or Open Day by emailing our Registrar at info@thechalfontsgrammar.co.uk or use the form on our contact page.

ADMISSIONS

All prospective students are interviewed by the Head of College, and sit a diagnostic computerised test to determine their abilities in English and Mathematics, as well as their overall aptitude.

  1. The interviewer will talk about the different aspects of the IB Middle Years Programme and will look for a commitment to its academic demands.
  2. The interviewer looks to determine the suitability of the student to our discussion based method of learning. The willingness of students to listen to peer contributions is key in this regard. Our taster days are an excellent way to participate in this.
  3. Students are invited to bring in an object, picture or photograph that they would like to talk about during the interview. The interviewer will refer to the student’s questionnaire so we can ensure that each student can follow their own interests at the school. Computerised testing, as well as the student’s current school report, will also be taken into consideration before offering a place.
