Following the fantastic success of their art competition earlier this year, Chiltern Railways ran another competition recently for budding young artists (19 and under) from across the region to design the covers of their Winter/Spring 2017/2018 timetables.
With the themes given: Speed, Railway symbols, The best thing about travelling with Chiltern Railways, the scene was set for our art students across the year groups to meet this challenge.
Under the guidance and support of their Art Teacher, Ms Debra Franses, and their families, the students excelled themselves. Out of the nine prizes available to win, seven students from The Chalfonts Independent Grammar School won prizes. Huge congratulations to Arthur MYP 1, Kai MYP 1, Marilena MYP 2, Bjorn MPY 3, Jessie MYP 3, Jake MYP 4 and Sam MYP 4.
Excitingly, these winning designs will be printed on the covers of Chiltern Railways’ new timetables and seen by thousands of customers travelling on the entire Chiltern route between London Marylebone, Birmingham, Oxford and Aylesbury.
Our winning students also receive two one day family travel passes for travel anywhere on their network.
I’m sure you’ll agree, this was an outstanding achievement by our talented students. Here are the winning students after their prize presentation from Chiltern Railways’ David Heathfield.
